GC stands for “Garbage Collection” in computer science. The term was first used by John McCarthy around 1959 to solve the problems of manual memory management in his software. He had developed an algorithm that automate memory management where the collector attempts to reclaim garbage (memory used by objects that will never be accessed again by the running software). Generally speaking, higher-level programming languages like BASIC are more likely to have garbage collection as a standard feature.

So together, gclog is a simply a blog of a Garbage Collector.
